Tenerife has become the perfect destination for enjoying all kinds of sports such as sailing, surfing, diving, golf and many others. This is partly due to its climate, which with average temperatures of around 15ºC in winter and 24ºC in summer has earned it its fame as the "island of eternal spring". But that's not all: Tenerife is also buzzing with activity, day and night: cultural visits, horse riding or trekking in natural beauty spots, boat trips, shopping and nightlife are also part of Tenerife's leisure offer.
The Barranco del Infierno or "Hell's Ravine" is a natural gorge on the Costa Adeje, created by the effects of seven million years of water erosion. Together with other rock formations, this site forms part of a Protected Natural Space known as the Barranco del Infierno Special Nature Reserve.
The Playa de las Americas
The Playa de las Américas beach is the centre of Tenerife's nightlife. It is also rather special during the day as it is one of the islands few white sand beaches.
Food & Beverages
Tenerife's typical traditional cuisine is based on produce from the land-potatoes, tomatoes, olive oil, cheese. Visitors can enjoy some of the island's most emblematic dishes, such as "papas arrugás" (boiled potatoes in their skins) with mojo picón sauce -"mojos" are sauces made with oil, vinegar and a mix of other ingredients that might include garlic, pepper, parsley or coriander-and typical meat and fish dishes. Don't leave Tenerife without trying the much-appreciated Canary bananas, and the prized Designation of Origin wines and the rum.
