In Varadero, you can do no end of activities: helicopter rides, microlight rides, yachts and catamarans, horse riding, swimming with dolphins, excursions to virgin islets, as well as parachuting, surfing, waterskiing, diving, tennis and golf.
Varadero has 8 international marinas, amongst which the following stand out due to their size: Dársena, Chapelín, Gaviota and Marlin, which are all associated to big international clubs such as the International Sailing Club, Marlin and Jolly Roger; they have the conditions and resources for doing scuba diving, with modern boats, diving teaching centres, hyperbaric chambers and highly qualified staff. Among water sports, one of the biggest attractions is immersionism, since the local sea beds contain more than 40 types of coral, a wide variety of fish and sea life in general.
Flora and Fauna
Flora, fauna and a genuine virgin environment characterise this place. Widespread tropical nature, large shoals of Atlantic tarpons, harvest fish and Atlantic spadefish, as well as large snapper fish, grouper fish and barracudas. The reefs in Cayo Coco are approximately 32km long and are well-known for their coral, gorgonians and sponges, although there are also other species such as skates, manta rays and turtles.
The forests and other plant formations cover about 90% of the land. It also has several inland lagoons, forming the ideal habitat for various types of fauna, and offering two interesting educational walks: that of the Loma del Puerto dune and that of Las Dolinas.
Food & Beverages
Cuban cuisine is simple and, it could be said that it is rustic. The dishes are not very spicy. The meat is generally well-cooked and fried foods are quite greasy. There is no olive oil. The national dish is congri, a mixture of onion, white rice, black beans and bacon, all fried together.

The Varadero Golf Club is set in an environment dominated by clean air, vegetation and calm; essential elements for playing golf.
The facilities are situated on the Peñas de San Bernardino, where in years gone by the millionaire Irenne Du Pont de Nemours installed a 9-hole course for his private use in an exclusive 180 hectare area, just a few metres from the coastline, on one of the best beaches in the world.
