Castell de Bellver (Bellver Castle)

At the beginning of the fourteenth century, King Jaime III ordered the construction of this original Gothic fortification. Elevated to 112 metres above sea level, Castell de Bellver offers spectacular views of the Majorcan capital, the port, the Serra de Tramuntana (Tramuntana mountain range) and the Pla de Mallorca. It also boasts the fact that it is one of the few castles in Europe with a circular layout. It currently houses the History Museum of the City of Palma.

Valldemossa

A few kilometres north of the island's capital is the small town — the municipality of Valldemossa. This name of Arab origin is popular in art and culture books because it was the place of retreat for great personalities such as Chopin and George Sand, Rubén Darío and Jorge Luis Borges. In the picturesque cobbled streets of Valldemossa, this bohemian atmosphere with rural colours continues to be felt today, making this place a must-visit.

Cuevas del Drach (Caves of Drach)

The most popular caves on the island are in the town of Porto Cristo, a municipality of Manacor. The route through the bowels of the earth, is almost 2.5 kilometres long 25 metres deep, where tourist routes and even classical music concerts are organised. The Drach complex consists of four imposing caves and an underground lake, all of them lit up by the engineer Carles Buïgas.
