Route through the balconies of the sea
There are many options for a different type of holiday in Saïdia, including this popular visit to the most abrupt part of its coastline. The excursion is carried out in 4x4 vehicles which, after heading for Cap de l'Eau, advance along several kilometres of fascinating beaches. The route crosses a part of the Natural Park of the Mouth of the Moulouya River and appears from the heights of the various sea “balconies” which offer unbeatable views of the Spanish Chafarinas Islands, the coastal towns of the area, its spectacular unspoiled bays and the beaches of the Hercules Rock, among others.
Visit the nearby town of Berkane
About 20 kilometres from Saïdia, the sea landscape turns into a mountainous profile with attractive orchards and picturesque rural municipalities. The town of Berkane is the gateway to areas of great natural interest such as Mont Beni Hassen (Beni Hassen Mountain), the Grotte des Pigeons (Pigeons Cave) and the gorges de la Zegral (Zegral gorges). An area of great appeal to lovers of history and archaeology, as 80,000-year-old paleolithic remains have been found among these geographical features.
Stroll along La Cornisa
The Boulevard Mohamed V or seafront promenade, popularly known as “La Corniche”, is the favourite spot for the city's walkers. Numerous shops and restaurants accompany this route, which is about 7 kilometres long, where locals and visitors gather daily at the end of the day. The sunsets from this corner of the city are the most attractive in the area and offer an extensive variety of options to sip a tea or to enjoy a delicious dish of sardine balls or traditional méchoui, spit-fire roasted lamb.
